Dr Mike Westby is an experienced leader and entrepereneur with over 25 years’ experience in Pharma R&D and biotech. As CEO and Founder for three start-up biotechs, Dr Westby has successfully raised more than £100M in dilutive and non-dilutive funding, and has led successful research teams in the anti-infectives and immune-oncology therapy areas.
Prior to his work in biotech, Dr Westby held leadership roles at both Roche and Pfizer. As Senior Director, Anti-Infectives at Pfizer, Dr Westby supported the successful development of a novel therapy for the treatment of HIV infections.
Dr Westby trained in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Durham, obtained his PhD at Warwick University and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at St George’s Hospital Medical School. Throughout his career, he has co-authored more than 50 peer reviewed publications and is a co-inventor on several patents.
