Professor David Roblin is a distinguished scientist, physician, entrepreneur and executive with expertise spanning pharma, biotech and academia. Throughout his career, Professor Roblin has led global operations for biotech and pharma companies – securing significant capital through investment and licensing, as well as bringing an extensive range of new medicines to market. He is CEO of Relation Therapeutics, a non-executive director of Nxera Pharma (TSE-4565) and a Senior Fellow and Chair of Scientific Translation at the Francis Crick Institute.
Following his work in medical practice at university hospitals, Professor Roblin spent more than 20 years in senior leadership positions for global pharmaceutical companies, including Bayer and Pfizer, where he was instrumental in the successful development of 12 medicines, including azithromycin, selzentry, ciprofloxacin, moxifloxacin, and new treatments for infectious diseases. As SVP and Head of European R&D at Pfizer, Professor Roblin guided global teams of up to 6,000 people, supporting the development of an extensive product portfolio across a broad range of therapeutic indications and disciplines.
Professor Roblin has successfully raised capital on public markets in the US, UK and Japan, as well as from venture and private investors, and through corporate transactions such as collaborations, licensing and non-dilutive grants. As Director of Scientific Translation and later Chief Operating Officer at the Francis Crick Institute, Professor Roblin was crucial to the institute’s translational efforts, which to date have raised more than £1B in external investments.
Professor Roblin holds a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of London, and qualified in Medicine from St George’s Hospital, London. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, and a Global Medicine Development Fellow of IFPMA. He is an Honorary Professor of Medicine at Swansea University and Professor of Translational Medicine at St George’s, University of London.
