Dr Todd A. Black is a renowned expert in the discovery and development of novel therapies for infectious diseases. He has more than 30 years’ experience at major biopharmaceutical companies, including as Executive Director, Infectious Diseases and Vaccines Basic Research group at Merck, as well as senior roles at both Novartis and Schering-Plough. Dr Black has led programs for therapeutic modalities for both prevention and treatment, including new classes of antibiotics, antifungals, HIV and HCV antivirals, prevention of recurrent C. difficile infections, and vaccines for prevalent respiratory and invasive infections.
Dr Black has broad experience in directing drug discovery programs from the early stages of lead identification through late clinical development and post-marketing. He is Senior Director of Biology at the TB Alliance, where he continues to support both discovery and late development programs to promote improved therapies for the treatment and prevention of TB infections.
Dr Black earned his PhD in Biochemistry from Michigan State University/DOE Plant Research Laboratory.
